Oneseason has been in the dumps the last month and I believe it will keep going down for another week or two, BUT if we hit 350k you will see many many people start to buy shares if they are long-term believers in the site. If I were you I wouldn’t buy a single share until the end of July, which is when I believe will be the cheapest opportunity to buy. I just think that every summer for Oneseason will be a bad one because no one wants to sit on their butt trading shares of athletes while they could be spending quality time playing with their family outside or some other hobby, but when fall/winter comes around with football, basketball, and hockey in full swing you will see activity, excitement, and your account back up. There are so many great buys out there right now, but I believe that when the market gets in the 350-400k range is when there will be unbelievable buy oppurtunities. The second you see hardcore advertisements on ESPN, Fox Sports, or any other sports show is when I would BUY BUY BUY! So my advice here is hold off buying anything right now if you are smart, because I can almost guarantee that the SOI you want to buy will be lower in two weeks.
Side note: I do believe in OS and it has great potential, but I believe the next few weeks will be rough.
Andre Johnson was released yesterday (what’s up with these weekend IPO’s.) He is a beast in fantasy and is in the top 3 of WR’s. He is very tall at 6 foot 3, and even though he doesn’t have a great QB to throw to him, he still rolls in touchdowns and receiving yards. Last year he had 1575 receiving yards which is pretty ridiculous for a WR. Everyone who requested him should get about 2 shares. I’m going to go with a projected market cap of 3.5k-4.5k. We all want this site to boom during football season, but in my opinion that won’t happen unless we do something about it, and that is vote up football players. Oneseason should not advertise the site with only 30 football SOI’s and 82 total. It would create a bad impression on the site. I am very excited for 2010 because I believe this site will be absolutely amazing, but if you want this site to boom boom pow this year, you have to vote up football players. Andre Johnson is the next IPO and he is an awesome fantasy player and will be a great addition to the site! After that, this is what the football IPO’s look like:
4. Michael Crabtree- Hasn’t proven himself in the NFL yet.
7. Jerry Rice- Amazing legend WR.
8. Frank Gore- Not really sure why he is this high…
9. Mark Sanchez- Bright future in New York.
There are many more football IPO’s to come, but I believe that there needs to be about 40-45 football SOI’s and over 100 SOI’s total before Oneseason should advertise. My 600k prediction at the end of the week didn’t turn out too well haha, but I expect this market to bottom out at about 500k.
Zambrano, Sabathia, and Howard all finished the night at .68 and had a lot of shares traded under .75, so I woke up today to see some reverse splits, but NO. Why is this oneseason? Yao reverse split with not a lot of shares traded under .75, but these guys didn’t? I agree Yao should have r.s. but I and everyone else would just like to see a little bit of consistency with these reverse splits. All of the SOIs released in October have a ton of shares, and these reverse splits would “even the playing field” in the shares outstanding category. All we are really asking is for consistency in which you do things. It is like you are reffing a basketball game very loosely, but with one minute to go you decide to call tic-tac fouls. Jose Reyes will be dropped today, after a surprise Father’s Day IPO (I love OSPRO Mobile Trading.) There have been some pretty different predictions as to where he will fall. I have heard anyway from 3k-7k. I believe that he will be in the 3-4k range because he is injured, but after the all-star break he will pick up value. The market had very nice volume yesterday and I believe that this market has bottomed out. In my opinion, we will see many more IPOs approaching football season and the market to steadily grow.
Prediction: 600k market cap by the end of the week!
Jose Reyes is next in the IPO pipeline after he hopped Brandon Roy and Ray Allen (who wants Allen?). The 25 year old SS is currently injured and hopes to come back after the All-star break. Reyes is a young stud for the New York Mets who isn’t the most powerful batter, but you should expect him, when healthy, to have 50+ stolen bases and a decent amount of RBI’s. Expect a low market cap from Reyes (3k range), but anything under 3k I would buy. When he gets back playing he will be very good in third party fantasy games. Have fun, and if he doesn’t come out today expect him to come out tomorrow.
So I get a message from Mike Sroka yesterday asking me to check out the latest Facebook application they have created. It isn’t tied into OS SOI’s or anything just something completely for fun. The application is called Vinny’s Sports Book and you can make bets against friends. You gain and lose credits as you go. As we all know, Facebook Apps can become viral and I’m sure as this thing spreads throughout Facebook – people will notice that it is BROUGHT to you by OneSeason.com – pretty neat idea by OneSeason. MEGA (Calvin Johnson) made his OneSeason appearance over the weekend and he is currently trading in the $9 range. Not bad. The upcoming IPO list is an interesting thing. Currently, two NBA guys sit atop the list with Roy and Allen. But these two could continue to get leap frogged as people are requesting MLB and NFL guys. Jose Reyes, David Price and Michael Crabtree are the 3 likely candidates. Should be interesting to watch.
The market seems to be pretty stagnant/stable in the $600,000 range. Give or take $20k. I still think this is a decent spot for this time of year. Come August/September time frame people starting doing things online again. NFL is launching around then and people start thinking fantasy. Load up your sportfolio now and be ready for the boom (large or small) in the fall.
So I know this is like a hodgepodge post but it’s been a few days. I also wanted to touch base on OSTrader Radio. It’s been a month or so since we’ve been on air and quite honestly, it’s kinda nice. Due to the general lack of activity and seemingly low interest in radio shows these days (10 listeners or so) I think we’ll just postpone them all until either a) something huge happens or b) the fall when all of us have nothing better to do then sit online and listen to a radio show. Will be a nice and much deserving break for the crew here at OneSeason Trader.
